A YOUTH 2000 Retreat is a Eucharistic centered weekend retreat with an atmosphere of joy, celebration and enthusiasm.
The heart of the weekend is the celebration of the Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The weekend includes catechesis, music, prayer, talks, friendship, workshops. The Retreat provides a means to help young people develop a deep and lasting relationship with Jesus Christ, especially in the Eucharist, “the source and summit of Christian life.” (Lumen Gentium 11)
WORKSHOPS
Speakers discuss topics important to young people. Following the talks young people meet in age appropriate small groups, to ask questions about their Faith, to discuss the talks and to discuss difficulties they may face in today’s society, for example:
Who is Jesus to me?
What is the meaning of life?
What does the world offer me?
What values do I seek?
Is it hard to live a Christian life in today’s society?
How do you live a Christian life in today’s society?
Why is my Catholic Faith important?
TESTIMONIES
Testimonies given by young people at the end of the Retreat show they are finding a true and lasting love for Jesus Christ and their Catholic faith. Placing Christ at the center of their lives, young people respond with great enthusiasm and zeal and a willingness to serve others and the Church.
The Retreat is open to all youth and young adults, age 13-30.
